Darvin is Founder and Chairman of Pinnacle Wealth Brokers, as well as the Director for Pinnacle Wealth Planning, a life insurance agency. He’s a founding sponsor of the National Exempt Market Association and Founder/Director in the Pinnacle 20/20 Foundation that has a focus of alleviating poverty in rural Honduras. 

Darvin has developed a background in investments and real estate over the last 20 years, earning numerous designations including: Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI - the highest honor in the financial services industry), and Financial Management Advisor (FMA) through the Canadian Securities Institute. He also holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation through the Financial Planners Standards Council, and Registered Financial Consultant (RFC) through the IARFC, International Association of Registered Financial Consultants. 

Darvin has earned much of his wealth through his personal real estate refurbishments, rental properties and passive real estate investments. In 1997 he started in the banking industry, dealing with investments, loans and mutual funds. In the year 2000 he obtained his life and disability licenses to offer full service financial planning, where he later because the Top Canadian Senior Financial Producer for a large insurance firm. While he gained much experience in mortgages and mutual funds he found his true passion is searching for alternative investments. 

Darvin was a pioneer in the industry; bringing the first sizeable exempt market distribution channel in Western Canada known as Alberta Land & Investment Brokers, which was recognized as the fastest growing company in Alberta by Venture Magazine’s Fast Growth 50 (under 20 mil category) and 9th fastest Emerging Growth Company in Canada by Profit Magazine. With intentions to grow outside of Alberta, Pinnacle was formed and has more Dealing Representatives than any Exempt Market Dealer in the country. 

Darvin is a fourth generation Albertan and resides in Calgary with his wide and four children. He enjoys travelling, scuba diving and waterskiing (#2017929B)

Dan joined Pinnacle in August 2019 as Director of Operations. Dan brings over a decade of experience in the Private Capital Markets as a Private Wealth Advisor and in Executive Operational roles. Most recently, Dan was Vice President, Operations at an Alberta-based Exempt Market Dealer. Dan was responsible for overseeing the company’s operations and act as the primary conduit between the issuers and Private Wealth Advisors. Prior to his most recent role, Dan gained experience in private capital market with Walton International, one of the largest land developers in North America. Dan holds a Marketing Diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Management from the University of Lethbridge.

Prior to Pinnacle, Deborah was the Head of Operations and Compliance Officer for Wealthco Asset Management Inc. She had previously worked in the Compliance departments for Leede Financial Markets Inc., and BMO Nesbitt Burns. Deborah brings a great wealth of knowledge and experience to Pinnacle, having spent 39 years in the finance industry, of which 20 years in the Compliance department.

Brian has been the President, General Counsel, director and member of Pinnacle’s Executive Compliance Committee since July 2015 and was appointed as Pinnacle’s Chief Compliance Officer in January 2017. Brian is licensed to practice law in the Provinces of Alberta and Ontario. Prior to July 2015, Brian was a Partner at the law firm of Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP located in Toronto, Ontario specializing in corporate and securities law with an emphasis on private and public corporate financing transactions, investment funds and securities regulatory compliance matters. 

Brian has been a member of the Ontario Securities Commission’s Exempt Market Advisory Committee since September 2012 and is the current Vice Chair (and former Chair) of the Private Capital Markets Association of Canada. Brian obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in 1987 and Master of Arts (Judicial Administration) in 1988 from Brock University, his LL.B. in 1997 from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, his J.D. in 1997 from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and his LL.M. (Securities) in 2005 from Osgoode Hall Law School. He also obtained his Chartered Insurance Professional Designation in 1994. In the early 1990s, Brian was licensed as a life insurance and accident & sickness insurance agent and licensed as a registered insurance broker in Ontario and worked in various capacities at a large insurance brokerage firm located in Toronto, Ontario.

Tom joined Pinnacle in November 2019 as Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance. Tom brings close to a decade of experience in finance including investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and asset management. Most recently, Tom was Vice President, Investment Banking at a Calgary based merchant bank. Tom was responsible for leading a number of successful mandates which included a public merger and acquisition transaction valued at approximately $50.0MM. Tom has a diverse range of industry experience including oil & gas, energy services, real estate, cannabis, industrials, and technology. Prior to his most recent role, Tom gained experience in asset management through a private equity fund focused on specialized U.S. real estate. His career has included a number of investment banking roles at bank owned institutions including Scotia Global Banking and Markets and CIBC Capital Markets. Tom holds a Bachelor of Management in Finance with Honors from the University of British Columbia, and a Master of Business Administration in Real Estate from the University of Calgary. Tom also competed on the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (“CIS”) tennis team in singles and doubles representing the University of Calgary during his MBA.

Michael is a registered dealing representative and top performer with Pinnacle and sits on the board of directors. Michael attended Acadia University, graduated in 1977 and moved to PEI where he articled and obtained his CA in 1979 with the highest provincial standings on Uniform Final Exams (UFE). He moved to Toronto in 1981 to pursue tax specialization with Ernst and Young. In 1985 he moved back to NS as CA Tax Manager of Michelin Tires Canada. In 1989, Michael re-entered the public accounting profession, became life licensed in 2001 and commenced work in the Exempt Market field in 2010. He sold his public accounting practice at the end of 2011. Michael has taught for CICA, in house accounting firm courses, York University, and Seneca College.

Jane Potter has been in the industry since 2008 and brings years experience in the exempt market industry to her role with Pinnacle Wealth Brokers. Currently responsible for representing the firm in registering new Dealing Representatives with the Security Regulators through the National Registration Database. Her past experience in the exempt market includes investment administration, event planning, business development management, recruiting, day-to-day operational duties and compliance administration.

Prior to joining Pinnacle, Jane was a Senior Administrator and the Authorized Firm Representative for the National Registration Database with Global Exempt Market Solutions (GEMS). GEMS became one of the largest Exempt Market Dealerships in the Western Canadian marketplace prior to its acquisition by Pinnacle Wealth Brokers.

Previously, Jane had a career as Certified Dental Assistant and practiced in hospital dentistry for 12 years. In this role, Jane had a great level of responsibility and as a result acquired excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Jane has a genuine interest and passion for getting to know people. Leading to her current position onboarding members to our sales team. 

Outside of work time Jane enjoys her time in Calgary with her family/friends walking trails or along the river with the family dog, reading or smoking a brisket on the grill. Jane has a passion and curiosity to travel more in the coming years.

Prior to joining Pinnacle, Benjamin gained experience in the finance industry as a financial advisor with a number of financial institutions. Benjamin was responsible for wealth planning for individual clients and small business owners. Most recently, Benjamin was a Business Analyst and Forex Trader for a boutique foreign exchange company. Benjamin was responsible for improving the operations of the firm and implementing risk controls for forex trading. 

Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Calgary. Since graduation, Benjamin has completed the Chartered Financial Analyst program in 2019 and may be awarded the Charter upon the completion of the required work experience.

Lindsay previously had 12 years' experience in financial retail banking and investments with TD Canada Trust in various roles, including Manager of Customer Service as well as Compliance Officer for their investment services division, TD Investment Services. 

She has been working with Pinnacle since May of 2017. She started in an Operational role as Issuer Product Coordinator and had many tasks that included facilitating product launches, back end vendor maintenance, conference and event coordination as well as other vital roles in the day to day operations of Pinnacle.

Lindsay has moved into a new role as Compliance Officer – Internal Auditor in March 2020.  Her new focus will be working closely with Pinnacle’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to ensure that all audit related processes are maintained and completed. This includes (but is not limited to) oversight for audit and regulatory requirements, DR desk reviews, Social Media and communication monitoring, trade spot analysis and data integrity.

Vik’s duties for Pinnacle Wealth Brokers include the following: internal and external financial reporting, analysis of accounting reports, weekly commission runs, and collections and payments. In addition, Vik is involved in the Pinnacle 20/20 Foundation reporting. 

Outside of work, Vik spends his time playing soccer, spending time with family and friends, and building jigsaw puzzles.

With over 20 year’s working in contracts, contract law, corporate minute books, mortgages, leases, rental investments and her work as a contract paralegal, Holly brings with her an extensive history of relevant experience. As well, Holly is currently licensed as a Realtor. Her experience in real estate may help facilitate and diversify real estate investments for Pinnacle. While living in the US for 7.5 years, Holly worked as a Management Consultant. However, she made the decision to return to Calgary with her son Graysen. Holly is passionate about volunteering which aligns with the Pinnacle 20/20 Foundation’s efforts in Honduras and other developing countries. In her spare time, you will find Holly on a golf course, travelling to the beach, doing yoga or enjoying dinner with friends.
