Associate Portfolio Manager

We are seeking an individual client-facing Portfolio Manager(s) to join our firm. Candidates must either already be registered as AR, AAR, CSR-AR, or have achieved the required levels of experience and education to become registered. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a client-facing role with a Canadian Financial services firm (IIROC, MFDA).
The selected candidate(s) will work closely with other Portfolio Managers and client support personnel, including analysts and administrators, in delivering investment management and other pertinent financial services. The successful applicant will have a broad and deep understanding of sophisticated wealth management practices and investment strategies. The ideal candidate will have extensive impact/mission related investing expertise having worked directly or as part of a team with existing client relationships.

Primary Accountabilities

Seek new clients from within your own network, the general public, and within our existing dealing representative network as requested.

Client meeting planning, facilitation, and presentation.

Develop a picture of the client’s entire financial and family situation.

Fully understand and can explain goal-based investment mandates and how they help clients achieve their financial objectives.

Evaluate and discuss options to meet client philanthropic goals.

Ability to establish detailed client investment objectives including risk tolerance, asset allocation, and cash requirements.

Complete a robust investment policy statement (IPS) with each client based on their goals, objectives, and risk tolerance.

Monitor manager performance versus benchmarks and develop insights for clients regarding key contributors and detractors.

Monitor asset allocation on a quarterly basis relative to policy and goals; evaluate need to rebalance.

Review portfolio issues (i.e., taxes, liquidity events, capital calls, etc.) quarterly.

Present alternative investment ideas to clients.

Manage investment transition for new clients.

Provide recommendations to individuals and family foundations enabling them to fulfill their goals related to mission/impact investing.

Ability to discuss investment performance, economic and market trends.

Direct consultation with attorneys, accountants, and other advisors as needed.

Participate as requested in the investment management committee, and other PM management-related meetings.
Qualifications

At a minimum have completed CFA Level 1 or hold a CIM designation.

Currently registered or meet the requirements to be registered as an AR or AAR, or CRM-AR.

24 months of client-facing relevant investment management experience.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

Proven track record of business growth.

Priority will be given to candidates with an existing client base.

Familiarity with Ndex (nice to have).

Bachelor's Degree (required)
Experience
Relevant investment management: 2 years (required)
License/Certification
CFA Level 1 or hold a CIM designation (required)
Remuneration
Remuneration will be competitive and commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience.
Pinnacle will offer supplemental pay types, including bonus pay and commission pay, as part of the compensation package.
